After rains the night before, Saturday morning at Great Lakes Dragaway’s June edition of the Nitrous Street Car Brawl looked promising for the Midwest Nostalgia Pro Stock Association and the rest of the groups scheduled to race.
GLD’s capable crew had the track ready, and cars were called to the lanes for the Test and Tune session in the early afternoon. Our group of ten were among those that got to take a shot at the track before mid-afternoon qualifying for groups in competition was to begin.
As the sky went from sunny to cloudy, the competition qualifying session got underway, and we prepared to head to the lanes for the first of three matches.
Unfortunately, before our call from the tower could come, showers started to fall. While relatively brief, it was significant enough to saturate the track. And with a larger storm cell about to move into the area in short order, track officials thought it best to cancel racing for the night. It was the right call.
With that we loaded up the trailers, looking forward to our next race.
Thank you to Jesse Branham, Bob Cattelino, Kelly Dill, Hannah Fleischman, Mike Morrill, Jim Parks, Josh Parks, John Sylos, Bob Unger, Arlee Williams, your dedicated families and team members, our support crew and most of all, our enthusiastic fans for coming out.
Our next race is the Night of Fire Jet Spectacular on Saturday July 1 at Great Lakes Dragaway. This race was extremely well attended last year, and the Midwest Nostalgia Pro Stock Association is once again proud to be a part of it. Be There!
